3 Surfing Lessons for Christmas

Laura and I got Ross and Jonathan a three pack of surfing lessons for Christmas. They had a blast learning to surf. I think the kids had fun too.

They both had no problem at all getting up...they both got up on their first try! They did a great job.

Surfing Videos

This was their first lesson and the waves were very small. We don't have pictures or video of the 2nd & 3rd lessons, but the waves were much bigger. The waves were big enough during their third lesson that a surfing competition was being held. The first 3 videos are of Jonathan, and the last 2 are of Ross.

Girls Trip to Coffs Harbour

On our way home we stopped at this little town. They take their name seriously. Many things in the town were painted like a cow.

The Big Bananna is one of many 'big' things in Australia. Many people stop and get their picture with it, but Laura and I were happy just taking a picture while driving by.

Coffs Harbour

Sushi picnic lunch by the ocean.

I love how Adelaide stabs the sushi with her chop stick. She is very serious about it too...look at her concentrating!

She spotted a turkey outside our door.

These two are truly beach bums. They were both born in AUS and they are totally used to spending days on the beach and in the ocean. They are little fish.

We have very clever girls...they can already spell! Hee, hee.

The resort was fabulous!

Maybe one day Daisy will grow some hair!

Oh, and here is the Big Prawn...or shrimp as we would say in the States.

We managed to find a great BBQ restaurant. You won't find many in Australia.
We had a great time in Coffs Harbour. It really was nice to enjoy a girls weekend. The boys were in the Outback...that was of no interest to us!

Boys Trip to the Outback

Ross, Greyson, Sawyer and I went to the Outback. We traveled about 10 hours inland and still didn't get to the real desolate parts of the outback, but were pretty close. The closer we got to the true outback, the further we had to drive to get to the next town. Then, once we arrived in the very small towns hardly anything was open. There were many meals that we just got from a tiny convenience store because nothing else was open during a holiday weekend. Did you notice the fly under Sawyer's nose? The flies were terrible. I now know why you see people with head nets on.
Wow, look at the wild boar skull we found!

This picture was the furthest west town that they drove to; it was named Charlieville.

With all of the rain we have been receiving in early March, the above was under water.

These are wild emus.

Playing with enormous ants.

Finishing an ice cream treat.

Open range cattle had to be shewed off the road more than once.

Roos are more stupid than deer.

Wild goats; Ross milked the one on the left.

Getting dark after travelling for 2 hours without seeing a town and maybe only one other vehicle. Still had about 1ookms to get to the hotel.

This was about 3 hours west of Brisbane.

Sawyer pulled a #2 here.

The above was on a 4x4 excursion about 2 hours out of the way.

After only being outside the vehicle for only 10 minutes, Sawyer still got a slight burn; the sun's rays just penetrated.

This is Sawyer beside a plugged oil well just off the 4x4 track.

More cattle to shew off the road in open range.

Burning extra energy by chasing ducks.

The above was in Roma, known for its gas and oil exploration.

Zoning in on a fun time.
